Evacuation order issued for Trabuco Canyon due to airport fire – NBC Los Angeles

The airport fire that broke out in Trabuco Canyon in Orange County spread Monday afternoon, destroying about 2,000 acres, prompting area residents to evacuate.

The mandatory evacuation order impacts the communities of Robinson Ranch and Trabuco Highlands.

Due to “a possible threat to life and/or property,” evacuation warnings were also issued for Robinson Ranch, Rose Canyon Road, Trabuco Creek Road, Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco Oaks Drive, Joplin Loop and Cook’s Corner.

According to the OC Fire Authority, the fire was first reported around 1:15 p.m. on Trabuco Creek Road, near a remote control aircraft airfield, and firefighters responded.

According to the OC Fire Authority, more than 40 fire departments battled the fire from the ground and air.

Firefighting teams, firefighters, bulldozers, helicopters and planes were deployed to extinguish the flames.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area so that the fire brigade could arrive safely and do their work.
