Bad is officially here. I If the press cycle for the insanely popular musical became a blockbuster film Bad it feels like it’s been going on forever, imagine how Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s stylists feel. For as long as I can remember, the duo (Glinda and Elphaba respectively) have dressed the part, meaning witchy and bitchy (respectively again, although these are more interchangeable).

The film has had five official premieres worldwide and an endless number of special screenings and events before its release on November 22. Unlike this year’s previous method dresser, Zendaya, the star of Dune: part two And Challengers, Grande and Erivo embark on this sartorial journey together, coordinating the outfits every step of the way. To commemorate the end of the “Journey through Oz,” we did you all a favor and ranked the duo’s premiere looks (a joint score, of course) on a scale of 1 to 5 emeralds. The winner gets a full ride to Shiz University.

The first premiere for Bad takes place in Sydney, Australia, with a Munchkinland theme – think whimsy, color and charm, which is something I think these looks convey. Ariana wears a custom Vivienne Westwood princess dress, while Cynthia wears a structured Louis Vuitton dress. I love that they both wear diamond encrusted necklaces to tie their looks together. Something about this just feels so good.

It’s time for school. The next stop for the press tour is Shiz University in Los Angeles. Individually, these looks are top notch, although Ariana’s Thom Browne look hits the academic theme a little harder. This is the brightest ensemble Cynthia wore on the entire tour, and while I love the color on hers, it’s jarring next to Ariana’s more muted pink. On its own, Cynthia’s Louis Vuitton look is so fun and different from the rest of her tour look.

We head south to the Enchanted Forest, via Mexico City. Here, Ariana and Cynthia lean more heavily into the film’s magic. Cynthia’s Thom Browne look is the wittiest and, well, evil of her outfits yet. I’m looking forward to it. Meanwhile, Ariana’s pale pink Versace dress almost looks like it has an inflatable skirt, which is very Glinda-core. Still, something isn’t right here, even if it’s just the yellow carpet and background blending into each other, so there’s no point in pointing it out.

Of course, the looks for the special New York screening at MoMA, which features a recreation of the film’s Ozdust Ballroom, are sleek and glamorous. Again, Cynthia and Ariana wear similar jewelry and dresses in the same style for a cohesive look that suits the location and theme. Cynthia’s custom Christian Dior Couture dress features a plunging sweetheart neckline and a crinoline skirt, while Ariana’s Louis Vuitton dress has the sweet addition of peplum bottoms. However, compared to their other looks, it’s all a bit on the understated side.

The last stop before the film’s official release? Back to London, where Bad was filmed. For the finale, the team pulls out the most intricate looks of the entire tour. It’s the first time Ariana has worn a color that isn’t pink. Instead, she opts for a butter yellow Ralph Lauren dress and light-tinted sunglasses, a clear nod to a scene in the Broadway musical in which Glinda wears a similar outfit. Meanwhile, Cynthia wears a divine Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress that nods to Elphaba’s journey in the film and shows off beautiful, almost robotic tights under all the black tulle.
