Hot dam! The Beaver Moon is coming!

This month’s full moon, named after the foraging, furry animal, rises two weeks after the corresponding new moon on November 1 and arrives on November 15, peaking at 1:28 PM PT and also serving as the last supermoon of 2024.

November’s full moon, also called the Frost Moon, marks the arrival of winter. According to the Farmer’s almanacthe nickname Beaver Moon goes back to the folklore of Native and Colonial Americans, who were said to trap the animals around this time for their thick, winter-ready coats.

While the full moon is astronomically radiant in its appearance, its energy also echoes astrologically tenfold. The Beaver Moon will be a full moon in Taurus (24 degrees) and its effects will be felt between November 12 and November 19, according to PEOPLE’s resident astrologer Kyle Thomas.

“Full moons often bring heightened emotions, impulsive behavior and dramatic events,” he says. A lunation in Taurus, in particular, “draws attention to” the themes that govern this zodiac sign: wealth, income, material possessions, and the physical world in which we live.

Thomas points out several “astrological aspects” that color this lunation, calling it the “most chaotic and shocking” full moon of the entire year. He predicts that we can expect “predictive events to spiral out of control and situations, events and conversations to come out of left field.”
