Expect major weather changes across LI this weekend

The fire warning has been extended for Saturday due to windy and dry conditions on Long Island. Saturday will be nice and sunny, but much colder with highs in the 50s.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for Suffolk County from Saturday night through Sunday morning with lows near freezing.


Sunday starts dry with increasing cloudiness and a rain shower will fall during the night. The rain ends Monday morning with nice weather for Veterans Day.

Temperatures for next week will be much more seasonal and we could see more rain showers later in the week.


OVERNIGHT: Mostly clear, breezy and colder with lows around 39 degrees. Wind from the northwest 10 to 20 km/hour.

SATURDAY: Fire department warning. Mostly sunny, breezy and colder with highs around 54. Northwest wind 6 to 15 mph. Freezing Look for Suffolk County at night with lows around 34 degrees. Clear sky and light north wind.

SUNDAY: Morning sun followed by late cloud with a chance of rain showers until Sunday evening. Highs near 60. Lows near 53.


MONDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers, especially in the morning. In the afternoon it will be mainly sunny. Mild with highs around 68. Lows around 47.


TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, nice and cooler with highs around 56. Lows around 43.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonal with highs around 56. Lows around 43.
