‘Fake news’: Agent Victor Osimhen denies reports of Chelsea loan for Napoli star | Football News

According to Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen’s agent says that the talks about a transfer of Osimhen to Chelsea are nothing more than fake news.

Chelsea and Napoli are in talks over a season-long loan for Victor Osimhen. Talks are ongoing between the two teams over Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to go the other way. After making Lukaku available for transfer, Chelsea want to offload him but have yet to find a team that can match their asking price of £37m. However, Osimhen’s agent confirmed that the Chelsea loan rumours were fake and that they should stop spreading such news.

The Belgian, who could reconnect with former coach Antonio Conte, is most attracted to Napoli. Conte has made him his main target, but it will depend on whether Osimhen leaves the club. The two helped Inter Milan win the Serie A in 2021. Lukaku and Napoli have already agreed a three-year contract, including a pay cut.

Although no price has been agreed yet, Chelsea would benefit greatly from losing striker Lukaku, who costs £325,000-a-week, and acquiring a quality striker. However, a complicating factor is Osimhen’s desire to join Stamford Bridge. He has already reached a personal agreement with PSG that would see him replace Kylian Mbappe as the team’s main man following his move to Real Madrid. The Nigerian has expressed interest in a deal and has previously been linked with a move away from Chelsea.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 league games to help Napoli win Serie A in 2023. The 25-year-old had a tough season the year before, but he still managed to score 17 goals in all competitions, with the Blues keen to add more firepower to their attack. However, Paris Saint-Germain, who are hoping to win the league, may be a more attractive option than Chelsea, given that Chelsea are not playing in Champions League matches. Chelsea have already made six signings during this summer’s transfer window, so it will be interesting to see where Victor Osimhen ends up.
