LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hip-hop fans in Lincoln were on edge before attending a concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Friday.

The $uicideboy$ show is the first concert at PBA since a shooting after the Sexxy Red show last month.

A 19-year-old was slightly injured in the shooting at Q and Canopy Streets, and two people were arrested.

Some fans who waited in line hours before Friday’s concert said they had no worries about safety.

Cameron Kelly drove from Iowa to attend and said everything that happens is out of his control.

“You can’t stop people from behaving badly,” he said.

A Lincolnite who lives downtown, Emily Popovich, said the arena needs more security.

“I’ve been to concerts at the Pinnacle, and I feel like you just walk through it, and they don’t pick on you,” she said. “So there is always a possibility that someone will bring something in.”

Others who live downtown, like Jaden Shum, agree.

“Additional security would be safer for everyone,” he said. “I don’t think you can have enough security at such a big event, especially at Pinnacle Bank.”

A Channel 8 reporter contacted PBA but never received a response.

Lincoln police said there will be additional officers in the area after the show to help direct traffic.

A fan who came to Lincoln from Dallas for the concert said $uicideboy$’s fan base is trustworthy.

“I believe the atmosphere and the crowd that will be here tonight is a very different crowd,” he said. “They call us a kind of family, and most people act like that. Of course there are a few bad apples in a family, but I don’t think that will matter tonight.”
