Father John Misty, Lil Wayne, Nas and Snoop Dogg react to Kendrick Lamar’s surprising new album GNX

Without any warning, Kendrick Lamar released his new album, GNXon Friday, and he caught everyone’s attention from the jump. On the album’s first track, “Wacced Out Murals,” Lamar names three veteran rappers, and each has responded to the name checks, as Stereogum notes.

First, Lamar raps, “Boat back in the day.” Tha Carter IIII kept my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I guess my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” and that prompted Lil Wayne to post on X, “Man wtf am I doing that?! He continued, “I’m just chilling and they still come into my head. Let’s not look at kindness as weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg you all. No one really wants destruction, not even me, but I will destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

Then Lamar says, “Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made’ I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right that I let it go.” Snoop Dogg – who reacted with some disbelief to Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” in April – took Lamar’s lyrics in stride, writing on edibles 🤦🏾 😆👊🏿 west west king 🔥🎶💫.”

Finally, Lamar paid more respect to Nas on “Wacced Out Murals,” rapping, “Won the Super Bowl and Nas is the only one congratulating me.” Nas responded today: “Always inspired by my brother KL. Keeping the essence of this shit alive and at the forefront. Greetings King!”

There is another musician who has a lot to say GNX despite not being mentioned anywhere on the album, and that is Father John Misty, who somehow has more or less the same album release schedule as Lamar. After a few posts on It’s not really a diss track, but “God’s Trash,” which was recently featured on an exclusive Bandcamp live album. But that doesn’t stop Father John Misty from playfully framing it as a Lamar response. Find his “diss” on Instagram.
