Several fireworks were set off outside the Real Madrid team hotel in central Liverpool last night.

The incident took place ahead of Los Blancos’ UEFA Champions League match against the English Premier League leaders today.

The fireworks were reportedly set off at around 2am outside the Innside by Melia Hotel, the venue where Real Madrid stayed the last time they visited Merseyside in 2023. According to Anfield Watch, a similar fireworks incident took place that year; Los Blancos eventually defeated Liverpool 5-2.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot will change his team’s approach for the match against Real Madrid due to Vinicius Jr’s recent injury. The Brazilian was ruled out of action following an assessment earlier this week.

However, during his pre-match press conference, the Dutch coach admitted he is unsure what Carlo Ancelotti’s team will look like at kick-off.

“Now that he (Vinicius Jr) is not playing, we have to expect something different. I think he has played almost every game for Madrid, so it is now again quite difficult for us to understand what to expect. But what we do know , is what we do.” can expect is 11 players with great quality and we try to prepare them in the best possible way. Will (Jude) Bellingham plays as a 10.
