The Flames had chances to take the lead in the first period, most notably a rebound chance from Mikael Backlund and a breakaway chance from Andrei Kuzmenko, both of which begged off.

On the other hand, Wolf made nine saves in the first period, but he also took the time to thank his post; after holding out on a Brad Marchand drive with nine seconds left.

Marchand hit a second shot a minute and a half into the second period, and the score remained tied for several minutes.

But Boston broke the game open with a few quick shots just before the middle of the frame.

Pavel Zacha took advantage of an accidental bounce off his stick in the high slot, hitting the puck home at 8:25 to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead.
