Flood risk remains into the weekend

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The risk of flooding is increasing as heavy rains move in from the Gulf.

This mess of stormy weather is associated with a tropical disturbance over the northwestern Gulf. The National Hurricane Center has labeled it Invest 90L.

Tropical moisture associated with this disturbance continues to push into southern Louisiana. Additional bands of heavy rain will move in today and tonight. As these bands work inland, flooding rains are possible across the region.

It is not impossible that more than 30 centimeters of additional rain will fall in the next 24 hours.

The drier weather arrives late Saturday and lasts one day Sunday. Next week I see more tropical moisture in the Gulf and more chances of heavy rain for us.
