Virginia is in the running to be one of the top prospects in the high school basketball class of 2025. London Jemison, a four-star forward and one of the top 50 players overall, narrowed his selection to six schools and Virginia made the cut, along with Alabama, Kansas, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Louisville.

Jemison, a 6’8″ power forward from St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, has already taken an official visit to Syracuse and, according to a report from Joe Tipton of On3, has official visits scheduled to all of the other finalist schools. He’ll visit Vanderbilt from Aug. 23-25, Kansas from Aug. 29-31, Alabama from Sept. 6-9, Louisville from Sept. 13-15 and then Virginia from Sept. 27-29. Assuming he hasn’t committed anywhere else by then, it could be beneficial for Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers to be able to put the final case to Jemison before he makes his decision.

Jemison is a consensus four-star prospect by every major recruiting service and is ranked as the No. 37 overall recruit in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the No. 11 power forward in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Connecticut. Jemison also held offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Providence, Villanova, Wake Forest, Xavier and others before announcing his final six schools.

Virginia has several promising prospects for the 2025 class on the cut list, including Jemison (top six), Cam Ward (top ten) and Chance Mallory (top six).

On the other hand, a few other 2025 recruits the Cavaliers were pursuing are no longer considering Virginia. Four-star forward Jack McCaffery, who was offered by UVA a few weeks ago, committed to Butler on Monday, while another recently offered prospect, Matthew Able, narrowed his recruitment to eight schools and didn’t include Virginia.
