France started their Nations League campaign with a comfortable win over Belgium.

Didier Deschamps’ team lost 3-1 to Italy in the League A Group 2 season opener on Friday and faced another tough opponent in the Belgians.

French captain Kylian Mbappé started this match on the bench, having played the full 90 minutes against the Italians. Deschamps decided to replace his entire attacking line.

Belgium started strongly but fell behind just before the half-hour mark when Kolo Muani tapped in a loose ball to score his sixth goal for France.

Muani’s Paris St-Germain teammate Ousmane Dembele made it 2-0 after the break with a fine shot.

Mbappe was sent on midway through the second half and had two good chances, but failed to score.
