It doesn’t get much better than claiming free video games or DLC, but what about a fancy new PlayStation 5 Pro console?

After months of speculation, Sony has finally announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro is real and will be released later this week. The PS5 Pro features improved resolution and ray tracing while performing at a higher frame rate.

If you were lucky, you could have not only picked up the Pro console in the traditional white PlayStation 5 palette, but also placed an order for the beautiful 30th Anniversary edition, inspired by the OG console released in 1994.

“An old color scheme that pays tribute to the legendary original PlayStation console, which launched on December 3, 1994. Each Limited Edition PS5 Pro console for sale is individually numbered as a collectible, and only 12,300 of these numbered consoles will be available for customers to purchase worldwide,” the product description reads.

Unfortunately for most PlayStation gamers, picking up that anniversary console was a near-impossible task, with much of the stock gobbled up by greedy scalpers looking to resell the console for huge profits.

If you were one of those gamers who missed out on pre-ordering the 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 Pro console, there’s apparently one last hope and that’s winning an official competition with Sony.

“To be in with a chance of winning a 30th Anniversary PS5 Digital Edition, reply to this message with a photo of when you received a PlayStation as a gift and tell us the story behind it,” PlayStation UK tweeted. “Christmas or birthday, from PS1 to PS5.”

Granted, the chances of winning this contest are slim considering the number of entries it generates, but it has to be worth it, right?

The standard white PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on November 7, while the 30 Anniversary counterpart will launch on November 21, 2024.
