At 3:01 a.m. EDT on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a Freeze Warning effective for Tuesday between midnight EDT and 9 a.m. EDT for Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Ingham, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Jackson counties.

The weather service says it anticipates: “Low temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to low 30s.”

“Frost and freezing conditions can kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and potentially damage unprotected outdoor pipes,” the weather service explains. “Take steps now to protect vulnerable plants from the cold.”
