From Sunday it will be dark before 5 p.m

CHICAGO — The end of daylight saving time in Chicago is Sunday — paving the way for sunsets before 5 p.m.

According to SunriseSunset, starting at 2 a.m. on Sunday, the clocks will turn back one hour and sunset for that day is set at 4:43 p.m.

The city will continue to lose precious minutes of daylight every day after Sunday for more than two weeks, on a slow march toward the earliest sunsets of the year: 4:19 p.m. from December 6 to 11.

And Chicago residents who work 9-to-5 jobs will have to deal with leaving work in the dark for most of January.

With sunsets slowly shifting back by the minute after December 11, the first day with a sunset after 5 p.m. is scheduled for January 29 – where there is also expected to be a full moon.

One bright spot, at least for early birds: the time change for Daylight Savings Time will push the sunrise back about an hour.

Sunrise on Sunday is 6:25 am
