George Street is officially in the house for the 2024 CMA Awards.

The country icon and his wife, Normamade a rare public appearance at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, November 20, to attend the Country Music Association’s 58th annual awards ceremony.

Although it appeared that Strait, 72, skipped the red carpet, the CMAs watched him during the opening speech of Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning And Laine Wilsonwho is organizing this year’s show. Strait and his wife later posed for a photo in their seats PostMalonewith Strait donning an all-black outfit and matching cowboy hat, while Norma wore a black and white sleeveless dress.

While fans online were excited to see Strait in the audience, many couldn’t help but notice that he didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about the new country music the show was celebrating.

“I wonder what George Strait thinks about today’s country music front row seat,” wrote one viewer on X, formerly Twitter.

“The subtle looks of fear, annoyance and surprise on George Strait’s face every time they look at him really sums up what most of us are thinking about this so far,” another viewer tweeted.

“If this doesn’t get a lot better real soon, George Strait might not even stick around for his award!” a third fan was concerned.

Strait looked like he had “had enough already” just a few minutes into the show, an X user declared as they shared a screenshot of the King of Country Music on the social media platform.

“Can we just leave a camera on @GeorgeStrait for the rest of the @CountryMusic awards?” asked another viewer. “His reactions are everything….#CMAs.”

Strait will be honored with the 2024 CMA at this year’s awards ceremony Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to his prolific career in country music for more than 40 years.

Not only does he have 60 No. 1 singles and 33 platinum or multi-platinum selling albums, but Strait is also “the only act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for more than three decades.” , according to the CMA website.

He has sold more than 70 million albums during his tenure in the industry and earned more than 60 major entertainment awards, including 17 CMA Award wins. He is also the most nominated performer in the award show’s history with a total of 83 CMA Award nominations, plus three previous wins for CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013.

Previous winners of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award include 2021 Nelson, Kenny Rogers (2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley proud (2020), Loretta Lynn (2021) and Alan Jackson (2022).
