#7 Buford vs. #3 Douglas County — Friday September 13
Previous meeting: Buford 48, Douglas County 0 (2020)
Douglas County has emerged as one of the Peach State’s best so far in 2024, starting the season 4-0 with its most recent win coming against Langston Hughes. Junior receivers Aaron Gregory And Devin Carter are among the best in the country and are consistent targets for QB DJ Bordeaux. The season has been bumpy so far for Buford, the No. 7 team in the state. A narrow loss to nationally ranked Milton was followed by a one-point win at home. The Wolves (2-1) bounced back last week, scoring 52 points away in a win over Roswell. Junior Quarterback Dagton Raiola improves and the Wolves have a defense full of blue-chip prospects. The Massey Ratings once again favor the away team, giving Buford a 71% chance to win.

#13 Gainesville vs. #2 Carrollton — Friday September 13
Previous meeting: Carrollton 41, Gainesville 6 (2006)
Gainesville has been one of the early surprises in Georgia so far, starting 3-0 behind an impressive offense and a strong defense. The Red Elephants are coming off a 41-7 road win over Westlake and have now allowed 7 points or fewer in each of their three wins. Carrollton (4-0) looked sloppy in the season opener against Woodward, but USC QB commits Julius Lewis and the Trojans have rebounded nicely, scoring 63 points in a shutout last week. Lewis has over 1,000 passing yards this season and has thrown 18 TDs against just one interception. Massey Ratings predicts Carrollton will defend its home field and win 38-20.

Milton has earned his #1 spot so far this season, surpassing the top 10 Bufordwhich defeated the famous power of Florida American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale and stamping Alpharetta with 58 in his most recent outing. Miami QB commit Luke Nickel has thrown for 599 yards and five touchdowns so far as Florida State WR commits CJ Wiley has 199 receiving yards and two scores. Blessed Trinity (3-0) has quietly climbed to No. 26 in the state rankings and has a golden opportunity to ruffle some feathers with an upset win this week. Jefferson v. North Oconee — Friday September 13

A big, but under-the-radar game will take place this Friday at Bogart. North Oconee (3-0) hosts Jefferson (3-1) in a battle of Georgia’s top 30 programs. North Oconee WR and Georgia commit Landon Roldan has been a machine so far, coming off a five-touchdown performance in a win over Clarke Central last week. The Massey Ratings predict a 28-22 victory for North Oconee.
