Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray, 14

The first photo of Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray has emerged. According to his aunt, the 14-year-old boy was begging for help before the shooting.

The photo, published by the newspaper 11 Alive, shows Gray smiling, wearing a thick chain and a red Georgia Bulldogs T-shirt. The photo is from a 2022 yearbook, which shows the alleged shooter at age 12 or 13.

Colt Gray, seen here in a 2022 yearbook photo, is charged in connection with Wednesday’s Georgia school shooting.

Gray was arrested Wednesday, minutes after he allegedly opened fire at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, killing two students and two teachers, authorities said.

Nine others were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

His aunt, Annie Brown, told The Washington Post on Thursday that the boy was “begging everyone around him for help.”

She said he was already struggling with his mental health before the shooting.

“The adults around him have abandoned him,” she lamented.

Brown, who lives in Florida, would not comment on her nephew’s mental health issues but said she had tried to reach out to him from a distance.

The FBI investigated the teen in May 2023 for online threats related to school shootings, including posts with pictures of weapons, the agency announced Wednesday.

Gray, then 13, and his father were questioned by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at the time.
