I’m a Windows and Android die-hard who hates to admit it, but the iPad is a damn good tablet. And if you want a high-end tablet that’s a little smaller and more portable than the usual suspects, the iPad Mini is pretty much the only game in town.

Right now you can get this 6th generation iPad Mini for just $300 on Amazon. That’s a whopping $200 off the list price, an incredible deal that makes it much cheaper than the base model iPad.

To be clear, this is a brand new iPad, not refurbished or used. The only catch is that it’s the slightly older 2021 6th generation model, not the most recent model with updated internals.

But the design is otherwise identical aside from the A15 processor (which is still a screamer for an 8.3-inch tablet) and the lower 4GB of RAM (ditto), along with a few other details like faster Wi-Fi and USB file transfer. You can read Macworld’s review of the 6th generation iPad Mini here.

As far as I’m concerned, this iPad Mini is more than worth it at a 40 percent discount, especially since there are basically no Android, Windows, or Chrome alternatives in this form factor. Sure, you can pick up a small Android tablet for cheap, but it won’t be nearly as solid as Apple’s offerings in terms of core software or app support. The iPad Mini also makes a great gaming or media tablet for travel.

Amazon offers the $300 Wi-Fi base 64GB version in four different colors: space gray, purple, pink, and “Starlight” (a bit goldish). If you want to expand the storage to 256GB, it will cost $500 instead (which is still a sweet deal, down $150 from the original $650).
