Gradual warming mid-week; small chance of rain soon

Blue, sunny skies are expected all day Tuesday, with temperatures rising from the low and mid 50s to the low 80s, and it’s been early September for a few days now.

12 hours Hbh Tuesday

Temperatures will gradually rise today and Wednesday, mainly due to southerly winds from a large high-pressure area in the east.

Stormcast

Temperatures will warm up for everyone, but the heat will be felt most in western Nebraska. After highs in the mid-90s on Monday, the northwest corner is expected to warm to triple digits this afternoon.

Stormcast Status Temperature

Warm, dry weather with gusty winds and dry vegetation will again increase fire danger in the Panhandle tonight. Red flag warning is intended to indicate who should avoid actions that could lead to a fire that could spread quickly under these circumstances.

Red flag warning Tuesday

The warmest day of the week is Wednesday, with temperatures reaching almost 32 degrees Celsius again.

A cold front from Wednesday night through Thursday is what we will ultimately feel in the cooler response you will see on Friday.

Wed Spc

That cold front will also be responsible for some rain chances, but isolated thunderstorm coverage looks low and spotty at this point. The Weather Prediction Center expects eastern Nebraska alone to receive perhaps 0.10″ over the next five days.
