Greg Olsen breaks silence on Tom Brady’s Fox broadcast debut after NFL legend takes on his role

After months of silence, Greg Olsen has finally spoken out about Tom Brady replacing him as Fox’s top football commentator this season and giving him a 10-year, $375 million contract.

Olsen had been part of Fox’s top NFL duo the previous two seasons, along with Kevin Burkhardt, but was demoted to No. 2, along with Joe Davis, when the seven-time Super Bowl winner entered the TV booth.

Despite Olsen losing some prestige with Brady’s arrival, he has no fear of the former Patriots and Buccaneers.

“I want him to do well. I want him to be successful. I want him to feel like I’m a good teammate,” Olsen told The Athletic. “It’s no different than if he walked into the locker room with me as a player and we happened to be playing the same position.”

Like Brady, Olsen immediately went to work as an announcer after his NFL career ended, starting in 2021.

During Olsen’s time at Fox, he became one of the network’s most popular hosts.

Brady’s first week with the headset for Cowboys-Browns was an awkward one, but most see room for improvement.

Olsen does not see his demotion as a competition with Brady.

“My success is not dependent on Tom. Just because Tom is really good doesn’t make me any less good, and just because Tom is bad doesn’t make me any better,” Olsen said. “Fox has two great teams, and that’s how I see it.”

“But I’ve talked to Joe about this – I want people to think that Joe and I are the best crew on television. It doesn’t matter that we’re the B crew.”

Perhaps Brady’s fame will help him improve, as he gets to call another game for Dallas in Week 2 as they host the New Orleans Saints.
