Grotesquerie’s season finale reveals the fate of Travis Kelce’s character Ed

FXing Big question has wrapped up the long-running horror story – but did Travis Kelce’s character, Ed, survive to the end?

During the season 1 finale, which aired on Wednesday, October 30, Kelce, 35, returned – this time as the real Ed, who rocked a mullet and found himself in a love triangle with his wife Merritt (Raven Goodwin) and her mother, Lois (Niecy Nash-Betts). Ed may have made it out alive, but some fans may be disappointed – or excited – to know his mullet didn’t.

“I had to face some hard truths. I cut (the mullet) as part of cleaning up my act,” Ed explained to Marshall (Courtney B. Vance) about his decision to join a men’s rights group. “No (it is not a religious group). (It’s about) support and brotherhood because we all have one thing in common. My anger is my salvation.”

Kelce was first introduced early in the season as a male nurse named Ed who worked at the same hospital where Lois’ husband, Marshall, was treated after falling into a coma. Ed and Lois developed a flirtatious relationship, but did not act on their feelings. Then he fell in love with Merritt – and that’s when fans discovered none of it was real.

“The blessing of this particular show for an actor is that most of the characters play a duality,” Nash-Betts, 54, joked during an exclusive interview with We weekly earlier this month. “Travis went from a charming person who worked at the hospital to an unhappy man with a mullet.”

Nash-Betts recalled at the time that he made an effort to ensure Kelce felt supported on set.

He will also host Prime Video’s upcoming game show Are You Smarter (…)

“Right now I’m taking it scene by scene and trying to make sure I remember my lines. Like I said, I’m very amaetur at this,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said of him and his brother Jason Kelce“New Heights” podcast in May. “Hopefully I don’t bomb this for (Ryan). It sounds like everything is going as planned, and I can’t thank him enough for this opportunity, because I’m sure there are actors who have been in the acting business who would die if they got the chance to work with Ryan, and I get it in, really, my first performance ever. So it’s pretty unique and pretty cool.”

He continued: “The biggest difference when you’re outside the acting world and you get into it is that you’re very aware of scenes. You don’t want to be so lost in the lines, you want to be in the scene with whoever you’re acting with, right? I started thinking, ‘Man, just remember your lines. Remember your rules.” But really, you want to be able to take that scene from one point to another and convey exactly what the meaning of the scene is.
