Guardians Tame Tigers to Force the Winner ALDS Game 5: Highlights

play

DETROIT – Back to Cleveland they go.

For one more game.

Winner takes all.

The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-4 on Thursday night in Game 4 of the ALDS, tying the series and creating a hold-your-breath series finale. These two teams will play in Game 5 on Saturday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

The good news for the Tigers? They start Tarik Skubal – arguably the best pitcher in the American League.

In many ways, this was a missed opportunity for the Tigers. They played at home, in front of a packed house of 44,923 people, without any pressure. Cleveland had its back against the wall in a must-win game.

And the Tigers seemed to be in a great position, taking a 3-2 lead in the seventh.

But with two outs in the seventh inning, David Fry hit a two-run homer off Beau Brieske, giving the Guardians a 4-3 lead.

Then, in the ninth, Fry laid down a perfect bunt after a safety squeeze and Cleveland added another run.
