Legendary musician Gwen Stefani looks back on making the breakthrough album of her solo career Love.Angel.Music.Babyas she marks twenty years since she released it.

Discussing the album, the pop star said: “At that point things were broken up, which meant I had no restrictions: I wasn’t in the band. I had no children. I wasn’t married,” in an interview with the People magazine.

After becoming known with the band No Doubt, Stefani created her solo album in 2004.

The 55-year-old added: “I had such an incredibly clear vision of what I wanted to do, I had created a style bible. This was before we had the internet like we do now, but I had ripped out every magazine, made everything -up images, to hair, to clothes and to musical references. Everything was collected.”

Recalling the writing process of her hit song from the album Hollaback girlStefani said: “I knew what kind of song I was going to write, I was so beaten down I was like, ‘I’m just going to show them what I got.’ It was that attitude when I went into the studio, and I thought, ‘Okay, this is the cheerleader I always wanted to be, and I want it to sound like a marching band…’

This comes after Stefani announced her fourth solo album Bouquetwhich will be released on Friday, November 15.

She has revealed that the upcoming album will feature a duet with her husband and country singer Blake Shelton.

Speaking to the outlet, Stefani further said, “If I feel like I have a purpose, it’s to write a song.”
