Halloween forecast: Afternoon showers and storms

Happy Halloween, Acadiana! Showers and storms are expected this afternoon and evening, coinciding with prime trick-or-treating times. Be sure to take your umbrellas with you before heading out as some areas may experience heavy rain and gusty winds. Precipitation is expected to range from 0.25 inches to 1 inch, with isolated areas possibly exceeding 2 inches, so use caution, especially on roads and sidewalks.

Temperatures will remain in the low 70s throughout the evening.

These showers and storms are associated with a cold front moving east from the west. While it will eventually lose intensity and linger, this will keep the chance of rain alive until tomorrow.

Most of the state is at marginal risk of heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding, so be vigilant for puddles on the roads if you travel today.
