Heavy traffic expected in Tempe for ASU football

With Sun Devil Football hosting an afternoon game on Saturday and homecoming festivities taking place on the ASU campus, heavy traffic is expected in Tempe this weekend.

The Sun Devils’ game against the BYU Cougars starts at 1:30 PM at Mountain America Stadium.

Most traffic will be in Tempe, where drivers should be aware of extensive restrictions regarding ASU homecoming.

Multiple roads in the ASU campus area will be closed between Friday evening and Saturday evening, including portions of University Drive, 10th Street and Myrtle Avenue.

ASU-BYU pregame/homecoming schedule for Saturday

For the ASU game, guest and metered parking lots will open at 8:30 a.m

Saturday’s homecoming festivities begin with a parade down University Drive from 9:30 am to 11:30 am

An ASU block party preceding the football game also starts at 9:30 a.m. The block party will take place in front of the Fulton Building and Old Main on University Drive.

A pregame tail skate at Mullett Arena opens at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

A Sun Devil walk will take place on Ellie Ziegler Way around 11:10 am.

Mountain America Stadium gates open to premium club members at 11:30 a.m., while those to the general public open at 12 p.m.
