Here’s what time the polls open on Election Day in Missouri where you can vote

More than 66 million people in the United States have voted in the general election on Tuesday, November 5, through November 1, according to data from the University of Florida’s Election Lab. In Missouri, nearly 280,000 people voted early, based on figures from the University of Florida’s Election Lab. data from the university as of October 30.

As of Nov. 1, about 30,000 people in Greene County have requested a mail-in ballot or voted absentee in person, according to Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller.

According to the Secretary of State, Missouri recorded an overall turnout of 70% in the 2020 presidential election. Schoeller told the Springfield News-Leader he expects a 75% turnout in this election.

Here’s what to bring and what to know if you’re among those voting on November 5.

What do I need to vote in Missouri?

Missouri law requires voters to show a valid Missouri or federal government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport or military ID.

If you do not have an ID, but are registered to vote, you can cast a provisional vote. Your vote will count if the signature on your provisional ballot matches your signature on the voter register, or if you return to your polling place on Election Day and show a valid photo ID.

When do the polls open on Election Day in Missouri?

The polling stations open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, and close at 7 p.m. If you are in line when the polls close at 7 p.m., you have the right to cast your vote.

Where can I vote?

If you are unsure where your polling place is, you can check your registration on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website, where you can find out where your polling place is, or you can go to https://vote.greenecountymo.gov/voting. -information.

There are central voting locations where any registered Greene County voter can go to cast their ballot:

  • Great Southern Bank Arena, 685 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield;
  • Mercy Hospital, 1235 E. Cherokee St., Springfield;
  • City Utilities Transit Center, 211 N. Main Ave., Springfield;
  • CoxHealth Medical Center South, 3801 S. National Ave., Springfield.

Two polling places in Greene County have been changed due to expected turnout. N Republic District voters will cast their ballots at Republic Middle School, 688 Hines St. in Republic. Those who previously cast ballots at the Missouri State University central voting location will be located at the Great Southern Bank Arena, 685 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway in Springfield.

What about absentee voting?

Absentee ballots can be voted on Monday through Friday through Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greene County Archives/Elections Center at 1126 N. Boonville Ave. in Springfield. When voting absentee in person, you must show a valid photo ID.

No-excuse in-person absentee voting is currently in effect, meaning anyone can vote in-person absentee voting without having to provide a reason for why they are casting an absentee ballot.

The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail has passed. Mail-in ballots must be voted, notarized, returned by mail, and received at the clerk’s office by 7:00 PM on November 5.
