How cold will it be tonight?

One of the coldest mornings of the fall greeted many Alabamians on Saturday, with several locations reaching freezing temperatures overnight.

But the cold will take a bit of a hit today as a warming trend takes hold.

Overnight temperatures were mostly in the low 30s across the state. Of the larger areas, Haleyville was one of the coldest at 29 degrees. And Mobile even dipped into the 30s with a low of 38 degrees.

Here’s a look at some overnight low temperatures (but not the official lows) as of 6 a.m. Saturday from the National Weather Service:

*Anniston: 31 degrees

* Chestnut brown: 34 degrees

* Birmingham: 34 degrees

* Decatur: 32 degrees

*Demopolis: 31 degrees

* Dothan: 39 degrees

* Eufaula: 35 degrees

* Wintergreen: 33 degrees

*Haleyville: 29 degrees

* Huntsville: 34 degrees

* Mobile 38 degrees

* Montgomery: 34 degrees

* Muscle schools: 32 degrees

* Ozark: 37 degrees

* Troy: 31 degrees

* Tuscaloosa: 32 degrees

Temperatures today are still expected to be on the cool side, with highs mainly in the 50s and 60s. These are the expected high temperatures for Saturday:

The temperature will be warmer in many places on Saturday than on Friday.NWS

Tonight will be cold again, with lows expected to fall back into the 30s across much of north and central Alabama. South Alabama could remain in the 40s. (See tonight’s low temperature forecast at the top of this post.)

But it is not expected to be as cold as last night.

Temperatures will continue to rise on Sunday, with highs expected to reach the mid-60s to lower 70s across the state:

What about next week? There are some signs that colder temperatures will return at the end of the month.

The six- to 10-day temperature outlooks from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center show increased chances of below-average temperatures between November 28 and December. 2. The odds increase as you go north in the state:
