How Mike Tyson plans to honor late four-year-old daughter Exodus in fight with Jake Paul

Mike Tyson has added a personal detail to the shorts he will wear in his fight against Jake Paul.

On Friday (November 15), the retired professional boxer, 58, and the YouTuber, 27, will fight in a boxing match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix. For the match, Tyson is expected to wear black shorts with his late daughter’s name, Exodus Sierra Tyson, embroidered on one of the legs above an image of the American flag.

The shorts were designed specifically for Tyson by BYLT Premium Basics, a brand the former heavyweight champion collaborated with for the bout. Robert Pursell, a company spokesman, said USA today they expect Tyson to wear the shorts during his fight against Paul.

In 2009, Exodus died when she was just four years old after a treadmill cord was accidentally wrapped around her neck. The event was described as a ‘tragic accident’.

“Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there’s a cord hanging under the console; it’s kind of a loop,” Sargent told Andy Hill ABC News KNXV-TV connected at the time. “Either she slipped or put her head in the noose, but it was like a noose and it was clear she couldn’t get rid of it.”

Tyson is also the father of six other children with four different mothers: Michael “Miki” Lorna, 34, Ramsey, 28, Amir, 27, Miguel, 22, Milan, 15, and Morocco, 13.

The bout between Paul and Tyson was originally scheduled to take place in July, but was postponed after the heavyweight champion suffered an ulcer during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. The fight lasts eight two-minute rounds and knockouts are allowed. Contrary to rumors, the boxers will not be wearing headguards, although their gloves will weigh 14oz – larger than the standard 10oz versions.

This will be Tyson’s first professional bout in 19 years since he retired from boxing in 2005.

Most recently, Tyson punched the YouTuber while they were being weighed the night before their match. As fans cheered Tyson on and hurled boos and insults at Paul, the two later came face to face when Tyson punched his opponent.

As security separated the two, Tyson refused to answer why he hit Paul. “The talking is over,” he told host Ariel Helwani.

Paul then said: “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a nice punch, buddy, but tomorrow you’re going to get the fuck knocked out. I’m fucking him.”

He also shouted: “He’s beating like hell, it’s personal now, he has to die!”

As the fight gets closer, people start predicting who they think will come out on top. Fellow YouTuber boxer KSI admitted he doesn’t think the fight will be “close at all.”

“Jake Paul will knock out Mike Tyson. This won’t be close at all,” KSI posted on X/Twitter. “Boxing is a sport for young men and Mike is 58 years old. They send a lamb to slaughter and that is disgusting.”

The fight will stream on Netflix on Friday, November 15 at 8 PM ET.
