How much snow is expected in the mountains of Denver, Colorado?

Denver’s first snowfall of the season is moving toward the city on Wednesday, but little is expected to stick around, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS forecasters say less than an inch of snow will fall in downtown Denver on Wednesday.

Forecasters said other cities in the metro area — including Arvada, Aurora, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Littleton and Parker — could see up to two inches of snow accumulation.

Most of the snow in the Denver area is expected to fall Wednesday morning, but a Freeze Watch will be in effect Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, NWS forecasters said.

The watch will be active from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday and covers Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder, western Denver suburbs, Castle Rock, Greeley and Byers.

Frost and freezing conditions overnight Wednesday — including temperatures as low as 70 degrees — could kill unprotected vegetation and potentially damage unprotected outdoor pipes, forecasters said in the warning.
