How to check voting wait times in Harris County

Today is election day. The polls in Texas are open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m

Sometimes the most convenient voting location may not be the fastest. Remember, voters registered in Harris County can vote at any polling location in Harris County.

Anyone standing in line when the polls close can cast their vote.

Preparing for your trip to the polls can make the process go faster. Expect to have the opportunity to vote for an average of 62 games. The ballots range from 58 to 77 contests, based on the voter’s registered address.

Polling locations in Harris County

Do I need an ID to vote in Texas?

To vote in person during early voting or on Election Day, voters in Texas will be asked to provide acceptable photo identification. Here is a list of the acceptable forms of photo ID:

  • Texas driver’s license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas election identification certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States military identification card with the person’s photo
  • United States Citizenship Certificate with the person’s photo
  • United States Passport (book or map)

Here is a list of the supporting IDs that may be presented if the voter does not have an acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one:

  • Copy or original of a government document showing the voter’s name and address, including the voter registration certificate
  • Copy of or original current energy bill
  • Copy or original bank statement
  • Copy of or original government check
  • Copy of or original pay slip
  • Copy or original of (a) a certified domestic birth certificate (from a U.S. state or territory) or (b) a document certifying birth that is admissible in a court and establishing the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document)
