How to Watch and Stream the Harris-Trump Presidential Debate Live Online for Free Without Cable

Much has changed since Donald Trump and Joe Biden met for the first debate of the 2024 campaign in June. Biden is, of course, no longer in the race, and Trump is now neck and neck with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, according to many polls.

The stakes will be higher when the candidates go head-to-head on Monday night, and a strong or weak showing could have a major impact on the vote in November.

Got questions about the debate? We have the answers.

When is the first Harris-Trump debate?

The debate will take place on Tuesday, September 10 at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Who is hosting the Harris-Trump debate?

ABC will host the debate and broadcast it online.

How long will the Harris-Trump debate last?

The debate is expected to last 90 minutes.

Can I the Harris-Trump free debate if i don’t have cable?

Yes, easy. ABC is hosting the debate, and all four networks plan to broadcast it live, as does PBS. To watch over the air, you’ll need an antenna. And you’ll want to test that equipment in multiple locations around your home to find the most reliable signal.

How can I stream the Harris vs. Trump debate online if I don’t have a cable subscription?

If you don’t have an antenna, ABC will stream the debate on many online platforms, including the ABC News website and other Disney channels, including Disney+ and Hulu. (Other networks will likely air the ABC stream on their sites as well.)

Other options include:

Disney+

The free trial for Disney’s bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ is no longer available. You’ll be charged $17/month for all three bundles (or $30/month if you don’t see ads on Hulu).

If you add Live TV to the package (which you need to watch the debate), it will cost $77 per month ($90 without ads).

Hulu with live TV

The free trial for this service is also no longer offered. It will now cost you $77 per month.

Maximum

The former HBO Max, owned by CNN’s parent company, will air the debate live. Subscriptions start at $10 a month.

YouTube TV

After a trial period of up to two weeks, you can expect a monthly fee of $73.

Sling TV

Dish Network’s Sling lower-end “Orange” plan will cost you $40 per month. Add the more extensive “Blue” plan and the cost increases to $55 per month. The seven-day free trial is gone, but the cord-cutting service is offering 50 percent off your first month’s bill.

DirecTV stream

Formerly known as DirecTV Now, AT&T TVNow, and AT&T TV, this streaming service will cost you at least $80 per month after the free trial.

Fubo TV

This sports-focused cord-cutting service offers broadcast networks in most markets. There’s a seven-day free trial, followed by monthly fees of $80 and up, depending on the channels you choose.

What are the rules for this presidential debate?

The candidates went back and forth over the rules for this debate. The Harris campaign wanted the microphones on the entire time, while the Trump campaign wanted them on only for the candidate whose turn it was to speak. Ultimately, the Harris campaign agreed to the muted microphone rule, but said it would protect Trump from direct exchanges with the vice president.

There will be no live audience at this debate, nor will the candidates make any kind of opening statement. And only moderators will be allowed to ask questions. There will also be two commercial breaks, but candidates will not be allowed to confer with their staff during those periods.

Who will moderate the Harris-Trump debate?

ABC presenters David Muir and Linsey Davis will moderate tonight’s debate.

When is the next presidential debate?

That’s still unknown. While Harris’ campaign said in August that both campaigns had agreed to three debates before Election Day, Trump’s campaign has not confirmed that. There are currently no other debates scheduled between Harris and Trump.

Vice presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz will meet on October 1 in a debate hosted by CBS.
