DETROIT – After some late-game heroics to end a tumultuous stretch, the Detroit Red Wings are looking for another win on Saturday night when they host the Boston Bruins.

After a terrible road trip in which the Red Wings lost all three games, the team had an exciting ending in their return home against the New York Islanders on Thursday evening. Thanks to solid goaltending from Alex Lyon, Detroit trailed by just one head in the waning minutes of regulation. That’s when Jonatan Berggren tied the game, with Lucas Raymond potting the match winner in the final minute of play to propel the Wings to a 2-1 victory.

While the win wasn’t pretty, it was important for Detroit to find some success after a rough patch. The Wings are only sixth in the Atlantic Division, eight points out of first place.

The Bruins sit just a few points ahead of Detroit. For a team that has been difficult to stop during the regular season in recent years, the B’s have remained flat in 2024-2025. They fired head coach Jim Montgomery after he lost twelve of the first twenty games, even though many of the team’s star players were underperforming. Boston sits fourth in the Atlantic, five points behind first place.

This is the first of three meetings between the Red Wings and Bruins this season. The two Original Six rivals split the four-game series last year.
