You’ve got problems, here on Broadway. With a capital T, and that rhymes with C, and that stands for…Cheating? Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have neither confirmed nor denied that they are dating. But if so, people want to know if they abandoned their spouses when it started. But that’s only if they’re dating! Which, again, is just a rumor. But if these rumors are true, Jackman’s ex Deborra-Lee Furess would be pissed too. Read on for a timeline of the maybe-relationship and the final end of two marriages. Also the magic of the theater!

March 2019: A revival of The music man starring Hugh Jackman has been announced for a fall 2020 opening. Later this month, Sutton Foster will be crowned Queen of the Librarians. The whole thing is produced by mega-producer Scott Rudin, who successfully revived Hello, Dollie! starring Bette Midler. Baby, there’s a big storm coming. A few storms actually.

June 2020: Thanks to the novel global coronavirus pandemic, Hugh Jackman’s The music man will be postponed until spring 2021. But after that, things will be smooth sailing for producer Scott Rudin, right? Right?

Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman both make statements about Rudin. Foster had reportedly threatened to leave The music man if Rudin didn’t stop.

Your joy brings the company of @MusicManBway to life. Let’s do this!” Meanwhile, Foster says it’s “a dream to dance with Hugh every night” on IG.

February 2022: The music man premiere on Broadway. Sutton Foster crochets Hugh Jackman a brass band shako for the occasion. She also posts this photo:

The show closes in January 2023 and is a box office success. Although nominated for six Tonys, it wins none.

September 2023: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announce their divorce after 27 years of marriage. “We have been blessed to have had a beautiful, loving marriage together as husband and wife for almost thirty years,” they said in a joint statement.
