Hurricane Oscar has made landfall on Great Inagua Island in the Bahamas and is expected to strike eastern Cuba on Sunday afternoon, the US National Hurricane Center said.

Oscar made landfall early Sunday with top winds of 80 miles per hour, making it a Category 1 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale, the agency said in an advisory. The storm is expected to drop as much as 10 inches of rain in eastern Cuba and could raise ocean levels by 4 feet.
