HUSKERS First Half Recap – I’m Not Nervous, You’re Nervous: NEBRASKA 24 Wisconsin 10 Matt Rhule Dylan Raiola

Behind 237 yards and a 17-22 for 159 yards and a TD performance from Dylan Raiola, the Nebraska Cornhuskers lead the Wisconsin Badgers 24-10 at halftime in a B1G for bowl eligibility.

The defense did their “bend but don’t break” thing as the Badgers uncharacteristically gained 157 of their 205 yards through the air. However, the Huskers froze deep in their territory and Badger kicker, Nathanial Vakos, made just one of his three FG attempts.

A dreadful return game at Nebraska immediately changed color when Jacory Barney Jr opened the game with a 45-yard kickoff. The Huskers then made an immediate change and showed pace on the drive, with Heinrch Haarberg firing in from five for a 7-0 lead.

Wisconsin answered through the air and when the drive stopped the B1G hogs were there with a ridiculous pass interference call (wrong route, slight bump, pass overthrown by 10 yards…ooohh-kay). Afterwards, a shaky TD pass was upheld when challenged.

(Later in the half, the scenario would repeat itself with Nebraska. Unlike before, no challenge was necessary, the officials decided to revise this scenario for Wisconsin. It was overturned.)

Then things got weird for a while because no one seemed to want it. Best example: Nebraska’s Janiran Bonner bobble rumbled right back to Wisconsin. The Badgers were stopped and hit a FG, but were called for delay of game – then missed the next attempt.

Dante Dowdell had a 12-yard TD run reminiscent of Colorado, and Jamahl Banks made a nifty grab for a 5-yard score that netted a pair of toes. As a final gift, Tawee Walker fumbled with 11 seconds left and John Hohl booted a 37-yarder to end the half.
