Idina menzel and kristin chenoweth have revealed behind the scenes photos on the set of the Bad film.

The duo originated the roles of Elphaba and Glinda when the musical premiered on Broadway 21 years ago, and have since become stage legends and global icons.

Part one of the Jon M Chu-directed film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande set box office records during its opening weekend.

Based on the successful novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, Bad tells the story of two unlikely college friends in the land of Oz, one destined to become Glinda the Good and the other the Wicked Witch of the West. Bad writers Winnie Holzman (book) and Schwartz (score) collaborated with Dana Fox on the screenplay.

As we recently reported, the pair will appear as “Wiz-O-Mania Super Stars” during the film’s “One Short Day” passage once Elphaba and Glinda leave Shiz University and reach the Emerald City.

During an Easter egg-laden (read our guide here) moment when the exhibition took center stage Bad fans will love, the duo help explain how Oz came to be, as well as the origins of the famous Grimmerie book that Elphaba uses to cast her spells. The pair also get to interact with Erivo’s Elphaba and Grande’s Glinda – with hilarious results.

They are two of the many famous stars who appear in the film – you can see more in our dedicated guide here.

Special guests included West End past and present Bad stars, including Alice Fearn who plays Glinda’s mother in the film.

Other West End favorites including Sharon D Clarke, Andy Nyman, Courtney-Mae Briggs, Kerry Ellis, Georgina Onuorah, Aisha Jawando and Misa Koide enjoy appearances in the film series.

Bad was released in cinemas on November 22 and you can read our review here. After a year-long hiatus, part two will hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
