The problem of robberies has gotten out of hand lately.

On Wednesday, it was reported that unknown attackers beat up a 64-year-old man in Limassol and stole €5,500 from him, while another young man in the same city robbed a kiosk, hitting the employee with a plastic bar before fleeing.

There have also been recent robberies targeting delivery drivers, and a case has been filed against an individual for three bakery robberies in Nicosia.

It does not take an in-depth analysis to understand that there is an increase in crimes that fall into this category. In order to prevent escalation to murder (since physical violence is often used in robberies), authorities, especially senior police officers and the Ministry of Justice, must address the problem immediately.

Why is this crime increasing and how can prevention be implemented?
