Inter Miami held at home by Charlotte FC.

The hope of the Herons to… MLS single-season points record were dented by a third straight MLS tie, this time at home against Charlotte FC.

Dean Smith’s visitors were impressive throughout and took the lead early in the second half Karol Swiderski managed to bend the ball past Drake Callender from close range. In response, Miami picked up the pace and came through right away Lionel Messi who found space on the edge of the penalty area and fired the ball into the bottom corner from twenty yards.

There were chances for both teams in a frenetic half-hour final, but the standout of the lot stood out Luis Suarez in the tenth minute of stoppage time. Messi and Jordi Alba combined to unleash the resolute Charlotte defense, but the Uruguayan skied his attempt from close range.

Another disappointing performance from Inter Miami, who will have to show improvement if they want to get deep into the play-offs.
