One of the most baffling figures of the past 50 years, the Zodiac Killer still raises many questions, theories and obsessions. What is This is the zodiac speaking about?

Over the course of their decades-long investigation, police publicly identified only one suspect in the Zodiac Killer case, Arthur Leigh Allen, but they never found enough evidence to charge him. This is the zodiac speaking revisits the case, featuring never-before-seen evidence and interviews with people who knew Allen, a former elementary school teacher and convicted sex offender.

The series features archive footage, along with interviews with local TV reporter Williams, who spoke to Allen in an on-camera interview before his death in the early 1990s, and with investigative journalist Robert Graysmith, who covered the case extensively in his 1986 book Book Zodiac. Allen’s former students and surviving friends of Zodiac’s victims are also interviewed.

But the docuseries’ primary focus is on the Seawater family, who say Allen played an integral role in their childhood, caring for them and taking them on journeys. “We realized that we had visited all the murder sites before the murders,” David Seawater says in the trailer. Even the police have never seen what the Seawater children, now adults, are going to say.
