Is Jameson Williams playing today? Lions WR is off to a slow start in Week 7

The Detroit Lions got off to a very slow start on both sides of the ball in the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and wide receiver Jameson Williams struggled to get going as a result.

Williams has been a revelation for the Lions this season, sliding seamlessly into the role of No. 2 wide receiver, which is exactly what Detroit expected from him entering the season.

While Williams has consistently made big touchdown catches through the first five games of this season, things aren’t going smoothly for him in Week 7.

Is Jameson Williams playing today?

UPDATE: Jameson Williams got first down midway through the third quarter… but it went to -4 yards. At least there is a sign of life. Small steps, I guess.

UPDATE: It’s been over two quarters and Williams remains without a goal in the game. Things aren’t looking good for fantasy football managers right now, but then again, all it takes is one big challenge for Williams to have a good fantasy performance. Fingers crossed.

The Lions have scored a pair of touchdowns after a quarter-plus after getting going after a slow start Sunday against the Vikings, but Williams wasn’t responsible for either. Plus, Williams doesn’t even have a target or a catch.

At the time of writing, Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs and Tim Patrick all have at least one target and one catch, with St. Brown responsible for a receiving touchdown. Gibbs has a score on the ground.

Williams isn’t the only talented pass catcher off to a quiet start, as tight end Sam LaPorta has also been out for a quarter-plus. The good news for Williams is that he has a big play waiting for him, so all he needs is one big pass to put on a strong fantasy football showing.

We’ll see if Williams or LaPorta can work the rest of the way.
