Is ‘SNL’ on tonight? Season 50, Episode 5 Host, musical guest

Saturday evening live returns tonight for a new episode with its first musical guest, after the show re-aired an old episode on October 27.

The November 2 edition of the long-running comedy sketch show – the last before Election Day – will see comedian John Mulaney return as host for the sixth time, with a live performance from MTV award-winning singer-songwriter Chappell Roan.

Who plays Donald Trump and Kamala Harris?

Playing the vice president for SNL‘s Season 50 is actress Maya Rudolph and the former president is played by James Austin Johnson.

Rudolph has played the character of Harris for a long time, appearing as a number of icons on the show between 2000 and 2007. She returned to the show in 2021.

Johnson received attention even before he became a member for his impression of Trump SNL in 2021, by posting videos to his social media accounts.

Actor Alec Baldwin famously played Trump during the Republican’s first bid for president and then throughout his presidency. Baldwin’s performance earned him an Emmy in 2017 and two more nominations in 2018 and 2021.

Coming back to SNL this season saw actor cast Fox News’ Bret Baier to debate Maya Rudolph as Harris, parodying their interview from last month in an October 19 episode.

The episode of Smart first ran on September 28 and featured the host singing a modified version of Cole Porter’s song “I Happen to Like New York”, and playing a Real Housewife.

Tonight’s episode, hosted by John Mulaney, who was a writer for SNL from 2008 to 2013 begins at 11:30 PM Eastern Time on NBC, with streaming available the next day on Peacock.

Who will be the host in the coming weeks?

For the first episode after the presidential election, airing on November 7, Grammy Award-nominated actor and comedian Bill Burr is in line.

The following week, Charlie XCX will host the show for the first time on November 16.

The singer, whose latest album brat reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart, has actually been released SNL in the past too.

Who are the upcoming musical guests?

The musical guest joining Mulaney on Saturday’s show is pop singer Chappell Roan. This is the first time that Roan has become a member of the SNL crew.

The singer, best known for her song “Good Luck Babe!” recently won Best New Artist at the 2024 MTV Awards.

Michael Todd Gordon, better known by his stage name Mk.gee, joins Burr as musical guest for the November 6 episode.

Mk.gee rose to fame after directing his own film ‘Two Star & the Dream Police’.

It was reported by Rolling stone that the singer was endorsed by Eric Clapton as the brightest new guitarist around.

Charlie XCX, meanwhile, will have double duty as presenter and musical guest on November 16. She recently shared a promotional image for that episode alongside the words “oh f***.”
