Is there a new episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ tonight (11/23/24)?

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Fans of “Saturday Night Live” will have to wait a few weeks for a new episode as the show takes a break for Thanksgiving.

The late-night sketch comedy series returns on December 7 with host Paul Mescal and musical guest Shaboozey.

Mescal is an Irish actor who was introduced to American audiences as Connell in the television series ‘Normal People’. He is currently starring in Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated film ‘Gladiator II’.

Shaboozey will also make his first “SNL” appearance. His song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” just spent an 18th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and he just released his latest single, “Good News.”

The show began its 50th season on September 28 with actress Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll. On October 5, stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze presented together with musical guest Coldplay. It was Bargatze’s second time hosting.

On October 12, singer-songwriter and actress Ariana Grande was a guest for the second time with musical guest Stevie Nicks. Award-winning actor Michael Keaton hosted on October 19, while Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish took the stage as musical guest. It was both Keaton and Eilish’s fourth time on “SNL.”

On November 2, stand-up comedian and actor John Mulaney hosted for the sixth time with pop singer Chappell Roan as musical guest. Comedian and actor Bill Burr made his second appearance as host on November 9, with musical guest Mk.gee.

On November 16, singer-songwriter Charli XCX worked overtime as host and musical guest. It was her first time presenting.

“SNL” fans will be happy to know that former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, is still at the desk.

Jost will be joined for Season 50 by his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor Michael Che, along with Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang.

Featured players Marcello Hernández, James Austin Johnson, Michael Longfellow, Sarah Sherman and Devon Walker have also returned. “SNL” also welcomed three new cast members for season 50: Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline.

At the end of the summer, Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney and Chloe Troast announced on social media that they had not been asked back. Johnson had been a cast member for four seasons, Kearney had been a featured player for two years, and Troast had just completed her freshman year.
