It’s the last big game for Barkley in a first season full of Philadelphia.

On Thursday, Barkley surpassed 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career and the first time since a 2022 Pro Bowl campaign with the New York Giants. However, according to NFL Research, he has never gotten there as quickly as he has in his 10 games with the Eagles.

After his last outing, he leads the NFL with 1,137 rushing yards and 1,347 scrimmage yards to go with 10 total touchdowns and a stellar 5.77 yards per carry. En route to those numbers, he has recorded six 100-yard rushing games in the NFL and three in which he has totaled 140 or more. Compared to his days with the Giants, Barkley had a total of six 100-yard rushing games from 2020 to 2023, and his three 140-yard rushing games are as many as New York has as a team this year, according to NFL Research.

As Barkley shimmered again, social media was littered with memes and posts about the Giants signing him with the archrival Eagles this offseason. As he headed to the postgame on the Prime Video stage, the home fans chanted, “Thank you Giants!”

Lost in all the Giants bashing and chanting, however, was exactly what Barkley did great with the Eagles. With what is arguably the best offensive line he has ever fielded behind the opening holes, Barkley is on his way to the best season of his career as part of the most successful side he has ever played in.

“Obviously Saquon gets all the credit for that, but you can’t be great without the greatness of others,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said. “Saquon was great tonight, but that offensive line was really good.”

He has been a blessing to the Eagles, just as they have been to him.

That was clear on Thursday when Philly held on for a 12-10 victory late in the first quarter.

Commandant head coach Dan Quinn made a somewhat shocking call to go for it on fourth-and-2 from the Eagles’ 26-yard line, abandoning a 43-yard go-ahead field goal attempt. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels was stopped short and Philadelphia had an excellent opportunity.

“That was huge,” Sirianni said. “In our view, that is turnover.”

Five plays later, Barkley raced straight through a gaping hole, reaching a speed of 21.78 mph, according to Next Gen Stats, as he sprinted untouched into the end zone.

Just two plays after the scrimmage then Barkley took off again, took a throw to the right, deftly cut back to the left and again ran untouched, this time through the middle of the field and parting ways with the Commander’s defense for a score of 39 meters.

Barkley ignited a somewhat rocky affair and did the same for the Eagles’ offense.

He started his season with the Eagles in Brazil and rushed to immediate success as he totaled three touchdowns and 109 rushing yards in a win over the Green Bay Packers. In his latest primetime outing, Barkley once again shined under the lights.

This is just the first season in Barkley’s three-year pact with Philadelphia and only the 10^e game of a long year. Great for Barkley so far with the Eagles.
