The Spurs will play their second NBA Cup game of the 2024-2025 season tonight against the conference leader Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC lost Chet Holmgren to injury for at least two months with a hip fracture after a hard fall on November 10. That injury, combined with injuries to their back bigs, forces the team to play smallball, which is something they basically are. pretty good at it.

Both the Spurs and Thunder are coming off losses to the Mavericks, but the Spurs have a slight rest advantage tonight, with two days off compared to OKC’s. If Wembanyama goes out again tonight with a knee bruise, the Spur won’t have their biggest advantage, so it could be another difficult evening for the Silver and Black. The Spur have shown that they can beat good teams and lose to bad teams, so let’s hope they can achieve the first scenario tonight.
