It looks like Amazon MGM Studios and John Krasinski aren’t ready to say goodbye to the Jack Ryan character just yet, as the studio is developing a new feature film starring Krasinski as the next phase in the franchise’s evolution. Wendell Pierce, who co-starred with Krasinski in the 2018-23 TV series, will also star, and Michael Kelly is in negotiations to reprise his lead role.

Andrew Bernstein, who served as executive producer and director on Season 2 of the Prime Video series, directs the film from a script by Aaron Rabin, who served as co-EP and writer on Season 4. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger produce via Zondagavond. Andrew Form also produces. The film is produced in association with Paramount Pictures and Skydance, whose David Ellison and Dana Goldberg will serve as executive producers alongside John Kelly and Carlton Cuse.

The film will be an extension of the landmark original series from Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television and Skydance Jack Ryan by Tom Clancyin which Krasinski played the iconic character of Clancy. Following the release of the final two episodes of the series’ fourth and final season, Jack Ryan by Tom Clancy delivered a significant 1.15 billion viewing minutes, according to Nielsen. The series airs for four seasons and is one of Prime Video’s three most watched series worldwide.

Most recently, John Krasinski was released IF for Paramount Pictures, in which he starred, wrote, produced and directed. The film opened at No. 1 and also stars Ryan Reynolds and Matt Damon, among others. Krasinski previously co-wrote, directed and starred in the Oscar-nominated Paramount film A quiet place. The film premiered to critical acclaim and was named one of AFI’s Top 10 Films of the Year, the National Board of Review’s Top Films of 2018, while also overperforming at the box office.

After the success of A quiet placeKrasinski released his follow-up hit, A Quiet Place: Part IIwhich he also wrote and directed. He also produced A quiet place: day onedirected by Michel Sarnoski, the best horror film of 2024. Krasinski is repped by WME and Schreck Rose.

Pierce also stars in the hit CBS drama Elsbethbased on the character from The good woman And The good fight, and in season 3 of Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan. He was recently cast in the upcoming film Superman movie for James Gunn. In 2022, Pierce returned to Broadway for a limited engagement to reprise his portrayal of Willy Loman in Death of a salesman after receiving an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play in London for the West End production. Kelly is best known for his four-time Emmy nominated role as Doug Stamper on the Netflix series house of cards, in which he played all six seasons. Kelly stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series Special Operations: Lioness and in the HBO Max series The penguin alongside Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. He is repped by WME, Liebman Entertainment and Schreck Rose.

Bernstein recently directed several episodes of Welcome to Derry, with Andy and Barbara Muschietti producing for HBO, and the first season of The diplomat for Netflix. He previously had an overall deal with HBO, for which he served as executive producer and director The Nevers. Bernstein is repped by CAA, Industry Entertainment Partners and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.

Rabin’s specification Towers was Blacklisted while Andrew Mittman produced through his 1.21 banner. Moreover, he has recently rewritten Nobody 2 in production for Universal, where he is currently writing another feature film. Rabin is repped by Untitled, CAA and Gendler Kelly.
