Jacksonville Jaguars plane encounters mechanical problems in Buffalo, causing several-hour delay

The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a disastrous road loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, 47-10. Capping off a brutal night was a mechanical failure on the Jaguars’ team plane, which kept the team from leaving Buffalo until after 1 a.m. EST, according to Ian Rapoport.

As if a four-hour flight wasn’t tough enough, the team was delayed for another couple of hours and didn’t return until the early hours of Tuesday morning. An extremely unfortunate circumstance for a group that had just played their worst game of the season and couldn’t wait to get back to Jacksonville.

This unfortunate circumstance will probably cost the crucial training and evaluation hours tomorrow and will also exhaust the players, who now have a short week after their match on Monday night.

The loss marks the worst defeat since Week 17 of the 2021 season, when the Jaguars fell 50-10 to the New England Patriots. Former Patriot quarterback and current Jaguars reserve Mac Jones had three touchdown passes against his future team three seasons ago.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had his worst game of the year, throwing for just 178 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Lawrence struggled with his accuracy, completing just 21 of his 38 pass attempts and was under pressure all night, getting sacked four times.

“You know, if he’s anything like me right now, we’re all a little down, right?” head coach Doug Pederson said after the loss. “You know, probably not very high. We’ve just got to keep working and keep pushing and keep working our way out of it.”

In the AFC South, the Jaguars and Tennessee Titans are the only teams without a win. In first place are the Houston Texans at 2-1 and the Indianapolis Colts at 1-2 after their win on Sunday.

The Jaguars fall to 0-3 for the first time since 2021, finishing with a 3-14 record. The schedule doesn’t get any easier as the team heads back on the road for another divisional showdown with the Houston Texans. A better performance next week and fewer airplane issues will benefit this team immensely.
