Jaguars experts share how Jaguars need to perform to beat the Bills in Week 3

JACKSONVILLE- Each week during the 2024 season, the Jaguars “experts” – Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, JP Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – will analyze the next day’s game against the Jaguars.

This week: The Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY

Frank Frangie, radio voice of the Jaguars

  • The Jaguars win if: They’re finding a rhythm on offense. It’s been a struggle so far. Part of it is that wide receiver Christian Kirk is more involved than they are. This could be a track meet; you have to keep up. And they have to keep playing that solid defense. The defense has kept the Jags in games, but this is a big challenge.
  • The Bills will win if: Their defensive line creates chaos, like the Dolphins and Browns did. And when Allen gets going, and makes plays that aren’t on schedule.
  • As Frangie sees it: The Bills are really good. And they’re playing at home. The Jags are struggling. It’s a good week to play their best game.

Jeff Lageman, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars Defensive End

  • The Jaguars win if: They’re eliminating the mistakes that plagued them the first two weeks. Everyone — and I mean everyone — has to step up on offense, and it has to start with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. In order to elevate the level of play of the people around you … you have to step up and do better than he did.
  • The Bills will win if: They continue to win the turnover battle and Allen protects the ball. The Bills have scored 24 points on four takeaways in the first two games and Allen has yet to throw an interception.
  • As Lageman sees it: This is a tough game in an extremely loud environment with the Bills Mafia. Monday night will be rocking in Orchard Park. Lawrence and the offense will need to be focused and determined to deal with the noise of the crowd. The Jaguars offensive line will be challenged all along the front line as Buffalo has a talented group. Allen will also challenge the Jaguars defense with his legs. The Jags play a lot of man-to-man coverage and defensive end Josh Hines Allen and Co. will need to contain him.

Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports sports director

  • The Jaguars win if: They score 27 or more points. The Jaguars haven’t scored 27 points since the Cleveland game in early December of last season, and have scored 21 or more just once since that game. This offense needs to get going and run the show.
  • The Bills will win if: They control the Jaguars running game. If the Bills force the Jags to long down and distance, they can take advantage of a struggling offensive line and create potential turnovers.
  • As Martineau sees it: If you like recent trends, the Jaguars did well against the Bills. The recent trends also tell us that the Jaguars are looking for their offense. I think the Jaguars are going to play well on Monday Night Football, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough to beat a Bills team that’s playing well. Buffalo wins 27-24.
