Jake Paul explains the refusal to knock out Mike Tyson

A lot of people tuned into Netflix on Friday night – and experienced streaming issues – to watch Jake Paul fight Mike Tyson.

And people who remember the Mike Tyson of 20 to 30 years ago would have assumed the fight would have ended in a knockout in Tyson’s favor, against almost anyone, let alone a YouTube star as a fighter became. Drake was among those who thought Tyson would definitely win.

But Tyson is now 58 years old and appeared to be suffering from a sore knee on Friday evening. And anyone who watched the fight would say Paul was in control almost the entire time. And if anyone was going to get a knockout, it would have been Tyson at the hands of Paul.

After the match, Paul even admitted that he threw some punches and carried Tyson so the fight would go a long way.

“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt anyone who didn’t need to be hurt. … There was a point where I was like, ‘Okay, he’s not really involved.’ And so I don’t know if he’s tired or what, I could just tell that his age was showing a little bit. I just have so much respect for him.”

Tyson’s boxing record is 50-7 after losing to Paul.
