Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight mocked by ‘SNL’ after Netflix drinks fest

Criticism of the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul came from all corners.

Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che and Colin Jost poked fun at the highly anticipated fight — which Paul won by unanimous decision at AT&T Stadium on Friday night — during their “Weekend Update” sketch.

“Last night, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson teamed up to beat everyone watching,” Jost said.

Tyson, now 58 years old and competing in an officially sanctioned professional fight for the first time in 19 years, failed to turn back the clock against the 27-year-old YouTuber turned boxer.

Tyson barely threw any punches after the first round – Paul threw 278 punches and landed 78, compared to Tyson who threw 97 punches and only landed 18.

Towards the end of the fight, which aired on Netflix, fans booed both fighters due to the lack of action.

Still, it was a huge box office success for Netflix.

The company announced that 60 million users signed up during the main event.

Additionally, the gate (the amount of money generated from ticket sales) surpassed $17.8 million, the largest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in US history, with 72,300 in attendance.

Tyson has since revealed he “almost died” before the fight.

“This is one of those situations where you lost but still won,” Tyson, 58, wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about stepping into the ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight, so I won.

“For my kids to see me stand toe-to-toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age, in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy Stadium, is an experience no one has the right to ask for.”
